Suit against Bob Marley's estate settled
A lawsuit filed in 1992 by Bunny Wailer and the estate of late Peter Tosh against the family of late Bob Marley had been settled out of court in May.
Wailer and representatives of Tosh sought payment of royalties from Island Records and permission to use the Tuff Gong record label logo.
Under the settlement, Wailer and the estate of Tosh will receive over $2 million in royalties owed to them by Island Records for recordings of the Wailers.
Although the Marley family owns the rights to the Tuff Gong name and logos, Wailer and the Tosh estate have the right to use one of two Tuff Gong logos, the one depicting three fists (it may means founding members of the Wailers, Bob, Bunny, and Peter). The other has an image of Bob.
